Media Fast

In my Journalism class, we got an assignment where we had to go 8 hours straight without electronic media. This means no internet, cell phone, iPod/radio, TV, computer, etc. When I first got this assignment, I didn't think I would be able to do it. The not using my laptop part was easy because I don't consider myself addicted to the internet. What was hard was not watching tv, movies, and listening to music.

This past Thursday, I decided to finally do my Media Fast assignment. I woke up at 8am, so I could watch tv later that evening. It was weird getting ready in complete silence. I'm used to watching tv while getting ready or having music on. Since I wasn't allowed to text during my media fast, I told Omar to be here around 10:30. We went to his house and we made scrambled eggs. We usually watch Cash Cab after breakfast, but since we couldn't do that, I read for a while.

We went out to do some errands around noon. I got a nice journal at Michael's =] and my favorite.. honeydew boba! Mmmmm! I still had a little over two hours left of my media fast to go so we went back to his house and had a snack before playing Monopoly.  I noticed that being in complete silence through out the day made me feel really sleepy. I was falling asleep so we went outside and played with Coco for a while. Before I knew it, it was 4!

I definitely recommend that every try this at least once. It's good getting away from sitting in front of the TV and laptop screen.

21st Birthday!

It feels like just yesterday I was playing in the sandbox back at Wayside. Now I'm 21 years old! Where have all the years gone? I was looking through some old pictures of me and I've changed so much. Whoa! As I typed this I heard on tv "Change is good"...must be a good sign =]
This year I decided to spend my birthday with my family and who I hope one day becomes family. I went to Elephant Bar (one of my favorite restaurants) with my boyfriend, parents, brother, sister in law, nephew, and my boyfriend's mom, sister, her husband, and their son.
At Elephant Bar, I got some Pad Thai with shrimp and my first legal alcoholic drink! I forgot the name, but it had rum in it! That had me sold =P

My sweet boyfriend got me some yummy cupcakes with purple flowers on top! Mmmm Red Velvet!
..And I got balloons! =] He also got me this beautiful necklace! (I'll take a picture of it soon). His sister and her husband got me a Beatle's shirt and some body spray with lotion and shower gel from Victoria's Secret which smells great! His mom got me a cute pearl necklace with a matching bracelet. My family got me money...as always =P Overall I had a great 21st birthday because I got to spend it with people I love.

Pho!

One of my favorite places to eat at is Saigon located at 3113 Chester Ln. I've tried pho from a few other places, but I always go back to Saigon. I always get the pork and shrimp spring rolls, pho ga, and thai tea.

When you get your bowl of pho, you also get a plate full of garnishes. I add bean sprouts, mint, lemon, hoisin sauce, and hot sauce. I love the taste of the broth at Saigon, it's what keeps me coming back for more.

The pictures aren't the best quality...mainly because of the lighting inside. I'm currently saving up for a Nikon. Hopefully I can get one soon!

First Post!

This is my first blog post! I'm starting this blog because I've been considering making a blog for a while. Now that I'm taking Journalism, I thought it was about time. I will also be getting onto my chictopia blog more often. Can't believe it's been over a year since I've posted anything on there!

I'm not too sure what this blog will be about. I'm leaning towards making it a food and fashion blog. For now I will be blogging about whatever may be on my mind. Mostly food! =P

Hope you guys enjoy my blog! =]
